THE RUFFLER - Possession dial animation
HEAD – Genève
Piaget Young Talents competition
2019
"The Ruffler" is a fictional project developed during the Piaget Young Talents Competition, in partnership with the HEAD – Geneva.
The idea behind this project for Piaget — and more specifically for the Possession collection — was to explore light from a different angle. Inspired by reflections on tree branches or the surface of water, this new model in the Possession collection offers a magical and timeless moment.
The challenge was to use the rotating bezel not only for its aesthetic value, but also to create genuine movement on the dial. The dial is composed of multiple gem-set plates mounted on axes. When the bezel turns, it drives these axes, causing the plates to shimmer and creating subtle plays of light and shadow. This delicate motion mimics the reflections of the sea or the sway of branches, adding a dynamic dimension to the reading of time and transforming the experience into a moment of fluidity and poetry.
